Job Title: Program Manager for the Syracuse Technology Garden

Position Reports To: Vice President for Innovation and Entrepreneurship
Position Type: Full-Time
   
Description: 
The Program Manager for The Tech Garden is responsible for the development and delivery of programs and services to support the Syracuse Technology Garden’s innovation, technology and entrepreneurship programs. The position provides direct staff support to CenterState Corporation for Economic Opportunity ‘s Vice President for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and is part of a team of program managers.
   
Essential  Duties:   
1.   Deliver Entrepreneurship programming. Specifically:
    a.   Events that deliver face to face networking amongst innovators, investors, entrepreneurs and the business community primarily in the 12-county region of CenterState CEO, but also state, national and international audiences.
    b.   Assist in the programing, marketing, budgeting, delivering, and tracking of current
programs, that may include, Syracuse Startup Weekend, Germinator, Syracuse Tech Meetup, Hack Upstate, the Clean Tech Center, Grants for Growth, and Genius NY.
    c.   Assist in the generation and accounting of program funds.
2.   Develop new programs and events. Specifically:
    a.   Gather effectiveness metrics to inform new program designs.
    b.   Seek feedback (surveys, exit interviews, social media) on current programming to affect continuous improvement.
    c.   Assist in marketing of Programs.
    d.   Work collaboratively with fellow staff, consultants, and the business community to tailor Programs to current situations and funding levels.
   
General  Responsibilities:
•  Develop sustainable programs and services that offset administration costs and deliver maximum value to Tech Garden tenants, clients, and the broader business community
•  Support the Tech Garden’s Vice President for Innovation Services with other duties as assigned
•  Perform all duties with the highest ethical and professional standards, often including strict confidentiality. 
•  Participate as an active and eager member of a larger team, cooperating and supporting colleagues duties as directed

Minimum  Qualifications:
•  Associate degree required, advanced degree preferred.
•  Previous work experience in program management (non-profit preferred)
•  Experience in scheduling and tracking via spread sheets.
•  Project management experience.
•  Budget management skills
•  Strong technical writing skills, including grant writing and proposal development
•  Grant management experience preferred
   
Skills:

Job Title: VP, Human Resources

FLSA Classification: Full Time
Division/Department: Human Resources 
Reports To: President & CEO

Job Summary:
The VP, Human Resources is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the human resources function including forming and implementing policies, payroll and benefits analysis and administration, and HRIS. Also responsible for the design, implementation, and communication of the organization’s talent management strategy including support for recruitment, and performance management, and employee engagement. Manages to and is responsible for the Talent Metrics within the organization’s Balanced Scorecard.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)
• Reviews and makes recommendations to executive management for improvement of the organization’s policies, procedures and practices on personnel matters.  Provides guidance and service to affiliate organizations.
• Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures agency’s compliance.
• Sets, maintains and ensures compliance with diversity and inclusion goals.
• Maintains responsibility for compliance with federal and state legislation pertaining to all personnel matters.
• Communicates changes in personnel policies and procedures and ensures proper compliance is followed.
• Assists executive management in the annual review, preparation and administration of agency wage and salary program.
• Coordinates or conducts on-boarding of new employees.
• Coordinates or conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separation.
• Consults with legal counsel as appropriate, or as directed by the CEO, on personnel matters.
• Works directly with department managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters.
• Addresses employee challenges/conflicts – interpersonal and otherwise.
• Recommends, evaluates and participates in staff professional development for the agency.
• Develops and maintains a human resource system that meets agency personnel information needs.
• Coordinates agency internship programs.
• Supervises the staff of the human resource department.
• Participates on committees and special projects and seeks additional responsibilities.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Some direct supervision and significant horizontal influence amongst his/her peers.

Education and Experience: 
• Bachelors Degree in human resources, industrial relations, or a related field required.
• Professional certifications highly desirable.
• Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in not for profit human resources management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 
Special Requirements:

• Driver’s license.

• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and decision making skills.
• Ability to implement a strategic, solution-oriented approach to highly visible initiatives
• Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

Job Title: SVP, Business Development

Job Summary:
The SVP, Business Development provides the vision, leadership, and direction to achieve the core business strategy and mission of CenterState CEO: to enhance economic competitiveness in the region. Leads the Business Development Portfolio and is responsible for business retention and expansion, membership sales, membership engagement, and business attraction and prospecting. Serves as a member of CenterState CEO’s Management Team and closely coordinates with the organization’s additional forward facing portfolios – Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Economic Inclusion, as well as internal facing portfolios. Lead the portfolio staff in carrying out their programmatic responsibilities in accordance with the goals of the current work plan and budget. Interact and coordinate activities with Vice Presidents of Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Economic Inclusion.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)
• Direct the day-to-day operational activities of the business development portfolio
• Develop and manage the organization’s business retention and expansion activities
• Lead business attraction and lead-prospecting activities
• Create and own metrics and goals related to expansion and attraction
• Coordinate with the Research, Policy and Planning department to deploy a business intelligence program
• Develop and deploy a service delivery system that aligns new and existing programs with membership sales and retention
• Leads significant portion of the organization’s non-dues revenue development through programs including but not limited to events, membership directory and sponsorship
• Ensure effective delivery of business development services to member and non-member businesses
• Consistently seeks to conceptualize, vet, and deploy innovative practices and approaches to economic development activities
• Act as the primary liaison to economic development partners on business attraction and expansion programs.
• Ensure the development and implementation of strategies to meet membership growth, engagement and retention goals.
• Lead regular staff meetings with Business Development portfolio team
• Manage and develop Business Development intake team
• Act as the portfolio representative to the public and participate in briefings, media briefings, presentations, speeches, and meetings. Represent CenterState CEO at assigned special functions and deliver speeches when requested.
• Interface between portfolio staff and Management Team on all strategic planning, programs, budget and internal staffing issues
• Communicate directly with Board of Directors when necessary, regarding strategic portfolio plans and updates. Represent portfolio at Board of Directors and other strategic meetings
• Assure the organization and its mission, programs, products and services are consistently presented in strong, positive, image

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Some direct supervision and significant horizontal influence amongst his/her peers.

Education and Experience: 
• Education in area of study related to strategic business planning and administration, management and marketing issues preferred. Preference for an advanced degree in a related field.
• Recommended six (6) years of experience in economic development attraction, expansion, retention or membership sales and retention or related positions with at least four (4) years as a senior manager or above.

Special Requirements:
